A quick getaway to a place not so obvious: Wuppertal!
Wuppertal is a very small industrial town, with one very known attraction: the monorail. It is one of the very few cities in the world to have this kind of public transport. The monorail (we like the German word ‘Schewebahn’ much better 😊) follows the river ‘Wupper’, at a certain point to cross the road and then just keeps following the road – you even fly over the highway! With about 13K long and 20 stations, it is a very pleasant way to get from point A to point B. some of the stations are still in (renovated) old style (the monorail dates back to the beginning of the 20th Century).
If you plan a visit to Wuppertal and you are staying at a hotel (we stayed at Postboutique Hotel) you get a dayticket for the Schewebahn for free!
